clearance day, act II (this is the end)

More mp3s from the uni computer!

Lackthereof - The Columbia
So, Lackthereof is this weird lo-fi project by Danny Seim from which the weird and cool Menomena came to be. That's pretty much the entire story. If you want something acoustic to make you feel uncomfortable, slam this on!
(BONUS: Menomena performing "The Pelican" on Juan's Basement)

The Whitest Boy Alive - Burning
That has to be one of the dumbest band names out. Plus, think about it - it'd also be reverse racism if the members didn't look like this. Maybe not? Hmmm. Stupid name and dodgy/confusing racial politics aside, nice song. This is one of those songs that gets better when you realise that summer is on its way (possible blog post for another day)... The band's newie, Rules, is out now and there's some new stuff on their myspace which is sweet and catchy and trying so hard to be funky it becomes a beacon to unfunkiness.

Thom Yorke - The Eraser (XXXChange Remix)
Talking of unfunky white guys (no shots), here's a man so unfunky, he refused to talk to both Miley Cyrus and Kanye West at the Grammys. Actually, I'm not sure if that makes him unfunky or just rude. Or pernickity maybe - any which way, it gave me a chance to link you to those P4K articles, and they always make me laugh. Anyhoodles, Spank Rock's XXXChange stops making 2 Live Crew tributes for hipsters to make a semi-funky Thom Yorke remix for hipsters. Hell, I'm dressed like a total hypebeast today and even I'm not silly enough to fall for this hipster bait. Still, not a bad remix but nothing that exciting outside of that swooshy wave of static at 2:42. SORRY EVERYONE.

The Shanghai Restoration Project - Miss Shanghai
Ah, these guys again... sadly, there's nothing quite as awfully addictive/addictively awful as "Babylon of the Orient" here (previously blogged about here), but something kinda Telepopmusik esque now. Random statement: I used to listen to stuff like this tons back when I had a Creative Zen rather than an iPod. Anyhoo, cute stuff. This is probably on a seventeen year old's Valentine's mixtape and I have no qualms with that. That being said: Holla at meeee, c'mon and let me holla at youuuuu.

Hulk Hogan & The Wrestling Boot Band - Hulkster's in the House
I, for one, blame Pinglewood.
